Client Onboarding: Winning the First 30 Days

Written by Joely Berardi | Nov 15, 2025 3:00:00 AM

The first 30 days are critical for client retention. This is when habits are formed and impressions are solidified. A strong onboarding process transforms a casual visitor into a loyal advocate for your studio.

Personalize the welcome. A simple email automation isn't enough. Send a personal video message from the studio owner or their first instructor. Ask about their goals and any anxieties they might have. Making them feel seen immediately reduces the intimidation factor of a new gym.

Create a 'New Member' roadmap. Give them a clear plan for their first month, such as attending 8 classes or trying 3 different styles. Gamifying the experience gives them short-term goals to focus on while they build the habit of attendance.

Check in frequently. Don't wait for them to disappear. Schedule automated check-ins at day 7, 14, and 21 to see how they are enjoying the classes. FitnessTool allows you to set up these automated touchpoints so every new client feels nurtured without adding hours to your workload.
